We are very happy to announce, that we will be able to have again a session about High-Performance Communications for High-Performance Computing entitled “Motivating, Engaging & Educating the Young into the HPC World” at ISC15 in Frankfurt, Germany.
Reserve already now the date: Wednesday, July 15, 11:15 AM – 12:15 PM, at booth #210
This BoF will focus on how to motivate and educate young people in HPC. In this specific case we will take as target young people from 13 years old until the end of a higher education level. We will take into account young people that do not know anything about supercomputing and the HPC world (general young public) and also students that already knows about HPC and addressed their studies in the direction of the HPC world. New/Young generation represents the future practitioners and developers of high performance computing technology and therefore it is important they gain an interests and understanding of the crucial importance of their roles in our society. Current HPC scientists and users play a crucial role in equipping young people with comprehensive knowledge of the field. The goal of this proposed BoF is to highlight the importance and necessities of motivating, engaging and educating young people in the field of HPC, and demonstrating current outreach approaches.
We will have a session of three case studies and then we will conclude with plenty of time for discussion and best practice sharing among the participants in attendance.
For this session we will have the contribution of:
Qing Ji – INSPUR
Tiina Leiponen – CSC
Jack Wells – Oak Ridge National Laboratory
