This year, the birds-of-a-feather submission titled “Outreach Matters: High performance communication for high performance computing” was unfortunately not selected for inclusion in the SC14 program in New Orleans, USA.
This was a little bit disappointing but we decided anyway to organize the gathering at the hpc-ch & CSCS booth.
The key mission for an outreach team is to engage with a variety of publics (stakeholders) on a regular basis through a variety of communication strategies, tools and tactics. In this session we decided to focus on how an outreach team manages stakeholder relations and we tried to demonstrate the many ways in which “outreach matters”.
We did this with two interesting case studies presented by Jack Wells from Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Helen Gardiner from VLSCI Life Science Computation Centre. At the end we also had plenty of time for an open discussion and best practice sharing among the participants in attendance, which was very interesting and helpful.
Here some pictures of the event. The slides of the two presentations will follow in the next days.
